Game of thrones season 1 512/26/2023 ![]() ![]() I do usually cut and trim once I finish, but I need to finish first.” “ The Winds of Winter is going to be a big book,” Martin wrote on his blog earlier this year, by way of explanation for what Esquire called "the most public case of writer’s block in human history." Martin went on to add that the book "could be bigger than A Storm of Swords or A Dance With Dragons, the longest books in the series to date. ![]() The collective novel series is titled A Song of Ice and Fire.) (A clarifying point here: the HBO series based on the novels is named Game of Thrones, after the first novel. Martin's epic fantasy series have been hanging on for more than a decade since the last novel, A Dance with Dragons, was released in 2011, and the author has been pushing the next book's release date back ever since. I did find the little kid who played the son of Catelyn's sister quite annoying, but other than that the acting was really good.Nobody understands the waiting game quite like Game of Thrones fans. I really enjoyed the episode, particularly the rivalry between the Lannisters and the Starks which culminates in an epic sword battle towards the end. Overall, this is another solid early entry in the Game of Thrones catalog. Meanwhile, Catelyn Stark brings her prisoner, Tyrion to her sister's keep, where she happens to be the widow of Jon Arryn. As Ned leaves Kings Landing, he runs into some trouble. Arya overhears of a plot against her father. Ned Stark brings the anger out of the king when he refuses. In this episode, "The Wolf and the Lion," King Robert learns that the Dothrakis are going to bring war to the kingdom, so he plans to murder Vaenerys. I liked this episode because you can see the rivalry between the Stark and the Lannister family as they are always in each others throat as they try to be the number one family in the kingdom. I was slightly disappointed we do not see Daenerys or the Dothrackis in this episode, although they are used in context. It is a rage-filled, emotional-heavy episode that features fine acting and a great ending. This is the fifth episode of the first season of Game of Thrones. Robert Baratheon: Does that make you feel better or worse?Ĭersei Lannister: It doesn't make me feel anything. Was it ever possible for us? Was there ever a time, ever a moment? Robert Baratheon: I know.Ĭersei Lannister: Even after we lost our first boy. someone took her away from me, and seven kingdoms couldn't fill the hole she left behind.Ĭersei Lannister: I felt something for you once, you know? I only know she was the one thing I ever wanted. Robert Baratheon: You want to know the horrible truth? I can't even remember what she looked like. As far as I could tell, you actually enjoyed it.Ĭersei Lannister: What harm could Lyanna Stark's ghost do to either of us that we haven't done to each other a hundred times over? And eventually it became clear that my spite didn't mean anything to you. I didn't want to give you the satisfaction of thinking I cared enough to ask. When I realized that wasn't going to happen, I refused to ask out of spite. I thought if I didn't talk about her, she'd just fade away for you. Why now?Ĭersei Lannister: At first, just saying her name even in private felt like I was breathing life back into her. Robert Baratheon: You've never asked about her, not once. Robert Baratheon: How long can hate hold a thing together?Ĭersei Lannister: Seventeen years is quite a long time. ![]() Robert Baratheon: So here we sit, seventeen years later, holding it all together. ![]()
